Fernando Sampaio

Sustainability Director , BRAZILIAN BEEF EXPORTERS ASSOCIATION
Fernando Sampaio is an Agronomist graduated from ESALQ (University of S'o Paulo) in 1997, specializing in meat market at ESA Angers in France. He developed his career in the European meat market at Societe des Viandes Bretagne Anjou, in France from 2000 to 2001, and at Meat Import Zandbergen Brothers, in the Netherlands, from 2001 to 2008. He started at the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association - ABIEC - as Sustainability Coordinator from 2009 to 2010, and became its Executive Director from 2011 to 2016. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Roundtable for Sustainable Livestock - GTPS - from 2012 to 2014 and its President from 2015 to 2016. Fernando was also on the board of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef - GRSB - and Vice Chair of the Sustainability Committee of the International Meat Secretariat - IMS. From October 2016 until December 2022, he worked as Executive Director of the PCI Strategy (Produce Preserve and Include) of the Government of the State of Mato Grosso in Brazil, an innovative jurisdictional approach to sustainability in the largest producing state of Brazil. Since February 2023, he returned to ABIEC as its Sustainability Director.
